29th February - 1st March 2020 will see Hutt Valley Clay Target Club hold a training weekend for UT. Predominantly intended for our 2020 team members to tune their skills and technique prior to overseas competition, we also invite any other shooters who are looking to improve their Universal Trench skills to come along. 2021 NEW ZEALAND NATIONAL TEAM QUALIFYING

The six events within the 2020 calendar year will form the qualifying opportunities for 2021 national teams for both Trans-Tasman, and World Championships. Ranking lists shall be established using the FITASC ‘percentage’ method, taking your top 3 percentages out of any of the 6 events. No events are compulsory, any 3 out of 6 will give a ranking number.

The qualifying criteria will be based on the FITASC Cups system, which is also used for New Zealand’s sporting ranking system. The winning score is rated as 100%, with all scores from the event being rated as a percentage of this winning score. i.e The winner shoots 144/150. The 144 is rated as 100%. 2nd shoots 141 (97.92%), with 3rd and 4th both on 139 (both get 96.53%), and 5th on 136 (94.44%). This system has been proven on a world stage by FITASC, and proven a popular system in New Zealand with sporting, and worked well for UTNZ during 2019. It removes range and weather conditions as factors, but still rewards shooting close scores, and chasing every target. It will be a fair system in selecting teams in all categories.

Only NZ Citizens are eligible for team selection and the minimum for all teams shall be B Grade shooters or better.

Team categories are; Juniors (U21), Ladies, Men/Open (21-55), Seniors (56-65) Veterans (incl. Masters) (66-onwards)
