NORTHERN 300

MAY 29th & 30th 2021

We had a great turn out for the Northern Universal Trench and Compak 300 over the weekend of 29th and 30th May. With the restricted daylight hours, we could only plan to run six squads, but, with some folk only shooting either UT or compak, we had a total of 45 shooters trying their hand at the targets.

We continue to attract some first-time shooters to our series and we hope they enjoyed themselves and will have another go at future shoots. Having 150 Universal Trench and 150 Compak on offer for these two-day shoots is providing enjoyable sport for all.

Waitemata Clay Target Club members were excellent hosts and they even managed to keep most of the rain away from the shooters! The light proved difficult on and off, but that didn’t stop shooters putting up some excellent scores.

Day one saw some great shooting in the UT, with Graeme Ede only 5 points down and Daniel Feutz hot on his heels on 6 points down. Bill Luxton found his form late in the day and showed us all how to shoot a possible in UT, as did Daniel in the Compak. Meanwhile, Geoff Wells was in hot form and was only 4 down over his first three rounds of Compak.

Graeme and Daniel taught us all about consistency on day two, as they were again 5 and 6 points down, respectively in the UT. Myles Browne-Cole was only one target behind Daniel at close of play. Daniel was meanwhile catching up with Geoff in the Compak, making an exciting shoot-off required to establish the winner.

We can now look forward to the next weekend of UT/Compak fun in Waikato!

Overall Weekend High Gun

The Overall High Gun winner off the gun was Daniel Feutz from Mead Te-Pirita with 273/300. Again, like Timaru we need to heap praise on Daniel for his efforts in this result. Shooting brilliantly over the weekend in amongst a large amount of office and organisation work. Again, a huge display of winning while working.
